Insurance
The group leader must ensure, well before the group departs from home, that adequate insurance arrangements are in place.
If a student's course is cancelled, please note that Languages United's Terms & Conditions apply in relation to any refund of course fees.
EHIC cards
While a valid EHIC card issued by an EU country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Switzerland allows students and group leaders to access necessary medical treatment during their stay, it's important to note that it is not a substitute for travel insurance.
All students must have travel insurance. We offer travel insurance for an additional cost, but students are also welcome to obtain their own policy, as long as it covers the entire duration of their trip and includes unforeseen hospitalization and serious medical treatment.Â
For more information about EHIC cards, please visit Government Information Site page
Immigration Health Surcharge
If a student's stay in the UK is over 6 months, most students will need to pay the immigration health surcharge. Please visit the UK Government Information site for more details.
Dangerous activities
Swimming and paddling in the sea or other natural waters are potentially dangerous activities. They will only be allowed as formal and supervised activities, preferably in recognised bathing areas which have lifeguard cover. Nonetheless, participants should always be in sight of their supervisors. One supervisor should always stay out of the water for better surveillance.
Group leaders should follow the recommended safe supervision levels at the pool for participants. Levels of supervision should take account of the age and swimming abilities of participants, and the nature of the facility being used.
